Thornton Battery Storage
Thornton Battery Storage is a proposal for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure, with a proposed storage capacity of up to 200MW. The proposal is to be located on land to the east of the village of Thornton requiring a planning application to be submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
About thorNton battery storage
The proposal consists of a development area of approximately 5 acres (2 hectares), with the area within the red line boundary being approximately 16 acres (6.5 hectares). Connection will be made at Thornton substation via underground cabling within the highway which would be subject to appropriate construction phasing, management and agreement with the highways authority.
Thornton Battery Storage would provide benefits for East Riding and the local community through supporting the critical transition to renewable energy and help to support the response to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Climate Change Strategy 2022-2030.
We are progressing with design development, environmental and technical work and have recently consulted with the public and local stakeholders. All comments received will be considered when finalising the design and site layout of the development prior to submission of the planning application.
We held a public exhibition to share information about our plans and seek feedback from stakeholders and the local community. This drop-in event was held at:
Wolds Edge Methodist Church, Main Street, Melbourne,YO42 4QJ
on Thursday 7th November 2024 from 1pm to 7pm
The consultation is now closed, however, you can still contact us to ask any questions here.
